    Polish Days in Chengdu took place from September until mid December 2018. It was another successful set of events organized in cooperation with local institutions and Poles living in Western China.

    Polish Days in Chengdu started with great performances of Rafał Sarnecki Quintet and Polish Literature Saloon during Chengdu International Bookstore Forum in September. Autumn is usually the time to show more of Poland to people of Chengdu and Sichuan.

    On October 11th at the Chengdu Institute Sichuan International Studies University we have opened new academic year of Polish language and Polish Language and Literature Exhibition. From October 11th another great jazz music performed by High Definition Quartet are to be enjoyed in Chengdu (program on the poster, please inform yourself at the venue about tickets). Representatives of Jingjiang District government and Department of Culture of Sichuan Province as well as Consul General participated in the concert on October 14th. Also great Polish artist Anna Socha VanMatre arrived to Chengdu to present her recent works: Art and Humanity. Next most awaited event in October have taken place at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chengdu. In cooperation with Chengdu Europe Culture Season organized by Chengdu FAO we were able to admire Iwona Podlasińska’s magical exhibition of children’s photography: "Magic of the Childhood". During the opening ceremony of the opening of Chengdu Europe Culture Season renowned Chinese pianist YAN Jingge played Fryderyk Chopin’s Polonaise in A major, Op. 40 No. 1

    Renowned Polish photographer Rafał Michalak exhibited his works during the exhibition "Between Mirrors and Windows" and two smaller ones at Allab Gallery from November 16th till 30th. He also gave a lecture on photography making and some workshops for local photography enthusiasts. We also presented exhibition "Women of Independence" showcasing Polish women who attributed to Poland's greatness from November 11th till December 1st. On November 11th we also awarded winners of "Woman. Poland-Southwest China Photo Contest".

     

    Our teacher of Polish language at the Sichuan University, Ms. Marta Ułańska gave a lecture about Wisława Szymborska "Portrait of a Woman". Also Mr. Sebastian Tajl from Kunming organized activities for the youngest: lecture about Poland and amber jewellery making workshop.

    All the events are part of the celebration of 100th Anniversary of Regaining of Independence by Poland. The highlight was the piano concert of Mr. Leszek Możdżer organized in cooperation with newly opened Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and trade Agency.
